Discontinuation of the European Online Dispute Resolution (ODR) Platform

ODR Platform

The European Commission, following an evaluation of the effectiveness of the European Online Dispute Resolution (ODR) platform across all member states, found that its use by consumers and traders was limited. In this context, the Commission has decided to discontinue the ODR platform and remove the associated obligations for administrations and online businesses.

Under Regulation (EU) 2024/3238, Regulation (EU) 524/2013 is repealed, and the operation of the ODR platform will be permanently discontinued. The platform, which has been operating since 2016 as a single point of service for the out-of-court resolution of disputes arising from online sales or service contracts, will stop accepting new cases as of March 20, 2025.

Users will have access to the platform until July 19, 2025, to complete pending cases or retrieve data. Upon the final discontinuation of the platform on July 20, 2025, all information, including personal data, will be permanently deleted.
