This area of activity includes issues of banking services, insurance services and services related to investments, personal pension funds and securities.
Regarding banking services, the Authority examines consumer complaints on payment accounts and services, housing loans, mortgage credit and consumer loans, investment plans and services.

Also, in the context of the Banking Code of Conduct (of Law 4224/2013):

  • applications for settlement of consumer debts are examined only after the ARP (Arrears Resolution Procedure) has been completed.

  • applications for declassification of borrowers as "non-cooperative" are examined.

Regarding insurance services, the Authority handles consumer complaints concerning the private insurance sector. The Authority deals with disputes arising from life, health, travel, property insurance and insurance in motor vehicle sector. Insurance contracts may concern either individual or group contracts and the issues that mainly arise concern the payment of the premium, the refusal to pay insurance compensation, the application of the terms and the activation of the coverages of the insurance policies and the termination of the insurance contracts.

The Authority does not deal with disputes arising from road accidents where the complaint is directed against the insurance company of the other driver involved in the accident, as these do not constitute consumer disputes.
